Proposed Shire Boundary Change

The state Liberal government went to the recent state election with a proposal to reduce the number of metropolitan local governments from 30 to 15. Following their successful election, the government has begun pursuing this agenda. One of the proposed changes is to expand the City of Swan boundary to cover the existing Shire of Mundaring.

The Shire of Mundaring has established an information web-page regarding this proposal.

A group of local residence have also established the SaveMundaring.org web-site to discuss the proposal and voice their concerns.

The Sawyers Valley Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade urges concerned and interested residence to review these two resources to become better informed regarding the proposed boundary change.

Gerard receives award

This year we were so proud to attend the Australia Day ceremony to celebrate the presentation of the Shire of Mundaring Citizenship Award for a person older than 60 years or older for 2012 to our Gerard Van Didden.  Well done Gerard and much deserved.  Gerard was nominated by the brigade and coincidentally also nominated by the Mundaring and Hills Historical Society.
